The “Git Crash Course” is the first Git in the course trilogy.

Git is the state-of-the-art version control system, taking away the pain of continuously changing file versions. Keep track of who changed what, when and why, and revert changes easily.

GitLab allows you to save the files to the cloud, giving you a secure backup location and enabling easy collaboration. Never lose your files again, and coordinate changes in even bigger projects.

This course teaches you how to install and setup Git and GitLab and it gives you a quick introduction into version control with Git. At the end of the course you will be able to perform basic Git actions that might be necessary for your team or your exercises at ETH.
  • What is Git
  • Installation of Git (+ Gitab setup with ssh Key)
  • Basic Concepts
  • Practical Exercises
  • No knowledge requirement
  • Laptop + Charger

This course is designed to be fast paced. It covers everything you need to get started to use Git. In the “Git and GitLab (Beginner) Course” we will repeat the concepts more slowly.

Note: If you already have experience working with Git, this course is not suited for you. Please visit the “Git and GitLab (Beginner) Course” or the “Git Advanced Course”
